Get The Highest MPG Car

Petrol Cars.

The petrol car is the most common car purchased. Non-renewable fossil fuels are utilised to produce propulsion and carbon emmissions are also created as a result. This is extremely bad for the environment, as we all know, but some cars are more efficient in their consumption of fuel, and hence produce fewer greenhouse gases.

To save fuel, help the environment, and to also save some money why not switch over to a smaller more efficient car? Usually called the super mini cars they produce the best miles per gallon of any petrol car. Because of the environmental benefits your road tax will be cheaper and so will your insurance.

Diesel Cars.

According to the society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders(SMMT)the average fuel economy for diesel cars outperforms that of petrol cars. The average petrol car gives 39mpg and the average diesel car gives 45mpg. Because of the better mpg diesel cars will generally produce fewer emmissions and hence road tax will be cheaper.
For motorway driving there is little to choose between diesel and petrol cars; the diesel car usually outperforming on short journeys, where its superior cold start mechanisms hold sway.

Hybrids.

Hybrid vehicles, as the name suggests, are an amalgam of a petrol or diesel engine and an electric motor which can be configured to produce optimum performance. For instance , the electric motor can be used to assist the engine when the car is accelerating or hill-climbing, which allows for a smaller more efficient engine to be fitted. In some hybrids the engine is not used in low-speed driving conditions due to its low efficiency; the electric motor taking over all the work.
